You’ve learned that the Earth maintains a natural carbon cycle that traps some of the sun’s energy and warmth, which sustains all life. There are many parts to this cycle, including the atmosphere, bodies of water, soil and organisms such as decomposers, bacteria, plants and animals. You’ll need to re-create this naturally balanced system. After that, you’ll need to take action to re-balance the carbon cycle so that we can reverse anthropogenic global warming.

Select the Natural Carbon Cycle tab to start!

Place the icons in the correct location to create the Earth’s naturally balanced carbon cycle.
Select an icon and then select the box where it should go. You can choose a new icon and replace an old one if you need to fix a mistake. Select Submit to see if you’re correct. You can try as many times as you’d like. Once you have the correct cycle in place, you’ll unlock the Global Warming Simulation.

Humans have upset the Earth’s natural balance by artificially increasing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere, faster than the natural carbon cycle can remove it. Because of this, we are experiencing an accelerated global warming. Select the global warming simulation tab to take action.

Correct!

Change the factors that contribute to global warming to see if you can get Earth to return to an ideal temperature, carbon dioxide level and amount of ice coverage.

Well done! You’ve minimized human activity that produces carbon and offset it with cleaner technologies and strategies, such as tree planting/less deforestation.
